Joni McDougall

graduated from Goldsmiths with a BA Textiles in 1997. I developed a body of work which was shown in several exhibitions including Showgirls - Women's Art Factory in Sheffield, British Telecom's headquarters near St Paul's Cathedral, LSE and The Whitworth Art Gallery Manchester. From 1997 - 2003 I worked as a technician in the Fine Art Department at Goldsmiths and was a lecturer of Cultural and Contextual studies at Central St Martin's College of Art and London School of Fashion. In 2003 I stopped making art work - big job, no time. I started making mosaics and working as a Community Artist in 2010. In 2012 I exhibited in a group show of South London Mosaic Artists at the Jeannie Avent Gallery, London.  In 2013 I exhibited in the Nunhead Open. I have made several commissioned pieces for private and public spaces.

I am interested in making client based, site specific, contemporary fine art mosaics that add a wee bit of sparkle and beauty to life. Primarily my mosaic work is an exploration of the circular form, creating exquisite compositions of colour and andamento that change with light conditions and movement. Each unique piece is individually precision cut and hand crafted to the highest standard.
